ANGERME’s 21st Single Critique

April 25, 2016

Tsugitsugi Zokuzoku
AAARRGGHHHH THIS SONG IS SO GREAT!!! I loved it after hearing the first few seconds of the live performance shown on Hello! Station~. As for the MV, the setting is pretty simple, but it fits the song well. I like the house of mirrors sort of shots for the solo parts and the crazy fish-eye lens when they’re rapping. =D Speaking of which, I love how enthusiastic Kananan was during her rapping in the second verse; I was a little afraid she was going to slide right into the camera. XD There are those slowed down shots that H!P has loved so much lately (though I don’t mind, because they do look cool). XD I don’t mind the outfits for this one; I like the tops well enough, but I don’t know what possessed them to give Take-chan and Maho those goofy-looking pants. o_O Doesn’t matter; the song is awesome enough to eclipse the weird pants. XD I reeeeaaally would like a dance shot version, but they don’t do those anymore. orz I’d also like to point out that Kamiko does well in this; I thought it was kind of cute when she would look away from the camera during parts of the dance (probably to make sure she didn’t run into anyone XD). This is definitely my favorite song on this single.
Line that gets stuck in my head: Tsugi tsugi zoku zoku (the repeated background lines that are heard at the beginning and end)

Itoshima Distance
At first, I had a hard time concentrating on the song because of their distracting outfits. XD I eventually got over it; some of the outfits aren’t actually too terrible. I also liked that they were divided up evenly into red, yellow, and blue. Maho’s hat, though… what in the world… XD I was a bit disappointed by most of the dance; it seemed kind of lackluster and, at times, all over the place. =/ The settings are a simple sort of pretty, and the extra shots (of Itoshima, I’m assuming) are a nice addition. The song actually grew on me quite a bit! =)
Line that gets stuck in my head: Chotto matte, nante iita no? Kikitakunai

Koi Nara Tokku ni Hajimatteru
First and foremost, I’m so happy that Meimei got such a huge focus in this song since it’s her graduation single and all. ♥ The solo shots with the words appearing on the sides are neat (and they remind me of “Uchouten LOVE” a bit), and the three-person shots in front of the colored backgrounds were nice, too. The shots of them in the red and black outfits seemed kind of random, but I didn’t hate them. (^_^”) The settings were pretty in this one, too. Once again, I’m bemoaning the fact that they don’t have dance shot version anymore. orz Is it just me, or does Rina seem a little more comfortable than usual in this MV? Maybe it’s just me. (^_^”) The only parts of the song that I still haven’t quite gotten used to are the fast solo lines in the chorus; it just seemed like there were too many syllables, so they sounded a bit off to me. =/ Somehow, that last shot of Meimei and Ayacho made me sad; the leader saying goodbye to the graduating member… TT_TT
Line that gets stuck in my head: Naze kimi wa watashi ni yasashii no (though, honestly, I don’t know the lyrics of this one well enough to remember most of the lines even if I can remember the tune (^_^”))

Let’s see, is there anyone I didn’t mention? I love Rikako‘s energy when she dances. =D I’ve also become quite a fan of Murotan; something about her reminds me of Ayappe (Ishiguro Aya from Morning Musume。, for those who don’t know)~. =D Overall, I think this is a great single for Meimei to graduate with. I can’t wait to buy it in a couple of days~! ♥

°C-ute’s 29th Single Critique

April 25, 2016

Naze Hito wa Arasoun Darou?
The first thing I noticed when they previewed this MV on Hello! Station was the jump in production value. What’s this? A big, fancy set? Backup singers? A band?! =D I really like the song, too. It’s nice to see this change of pace from °C-ute once in a while~. The whole MV has a very classy feel. My only gripe is seeing the tired “putting on makeup” scenes again. orz Otherwise, this was lovely!
Line that gets stuck in my head: Hana wa saku no ni naze hito wa kanashiin darou?

Summer Wind
… Can’t say I’m a huge fan of their outfits. (^_^”) Other than that, this is really rather pretty. I really like the overlaid shots and the slowed down parts (though, seriously, they’re using that effect in almost every single H!P video now, it seems XD). It also makes me happy to see outdoor shots in H!P videos every once in a while~. There’s a beautiful, lonely sort of feeling to the music in the beginning and during the verses. Also, Airi‘s vocalizing near the end… ♥
Line that gets stuck in my head: Mabushisugiru along the coast

Jinsei wa STEP!
Here it is! Every multi-A-side single has THE song, and, in my opinion, this is that song for this single~. What’s not to like? Awesome set, fun-looking dance, cool-looking extra scenes (adlfj;aiefjak TAP DANCING), and an amazingly-catchy song! … The outfits are okay. XD Besides the tap dancer scenes, I also really like the fact that they had some of the other scenes in black and white. These are the kinds of songs that make me desperately wish for dance shot versions again. orz This is definitely my favorite song from this single~!
Line that gets stuck in my head: Mawaru mawaru yo jinsei

Okay, °C-ute has my attention again. I maybe kinda sorta ignored their last single and only got a couple songs from their last album… but this single was just awesome! =D (Also, just on a random note, though they all look lovely, I would like to point out how gorgeous Maimi looks in these videos~. So pretty!) Well done, °C-ute; you’ve still got it!

Country Girls 3rd Single Critique

March 6, 2016

Boogie Woogie LOVE
I really love the 50s style used for the outfits and music video~! The diner setting with all of the signs on the wall is so great! MVs always hold my interest more when they have something fun in the background instead of just an empty room (… maybe I should do something about my own YouTube videos if that’s the case… XD). I even liked the “other” shots with the lollipops and cars even though they’re pretty much the type of scenes I don’t usually care for (standing/sitting somewhere and just staring off into space thoughtfully). Once again, thank you, interesting set! I’m not 100% sure how I feel about the dance. I know I really like the leg swing during the beginning of the chorus, and there are a few other moves that look pretty good, but the camera moves around so much. O_O My initial though was, “Wow, they’re kind of all over the place,” but I know there’s some rhyme and reason to it… it would just be easier to confirm if I could see it straight on without any camera changes. orz Overall, I like this video~.
Line that gets stuck in my head: Hold me tight / Dakishimete yo, Fall in love

Koi wa Magnet
This one has a bit of an 80s sound, which gives this single a nice variation. While I didn’t find the background for this one as interesting as “Boogie Woogie LOVE,” it was still pretty neat with the swirling, striped design in the huge windows. I rather liked the “other” shots for this, even though, once again, they’re just sort of staring off into space. The individual settings are pretty though~. I love Manaka and her amazing dancing, but her powerful dance break in this seemed a bit jarring after the relaxed style of the rest of the dance. =/ Overall, I really like this video, too~.
Line that gets stuck in my head: Shall we dance?

Ranrarun ~Anata ni Muchuu~
AAAAHHHH! FINALLY! This this this THIS is what I’ve wanted from H!P for so long! This reminds me of older H!P music videos… something like a combination of “I WISH” and a Tanpopo video after Kago and Rika joined with a little “Mr. Moonlight ~Ai no Big Band” thrown in for good measure. I love this so much~! It has a fun background, story scenes, cuteness (their dresses and the heart lights in their eyes~!), silliness (most of the video XD), a nice dance (from what I could see of it), and the song is unbelievably catchy~!! =D I know it’s a cover song, but that doesn’t matter in the least; it got stuck in my head right away (not even an exaggeration). This is definitely my favorite video, and it has to be my favorite track from this amazing single!
Line that gets stuck in my head: Ranrarun, anata ni muchuu na no (Let’s be honest; the entire song has gotten stuck in my head multiple times already. XD)

Seriously, Country Girls is absolutely killing it (in a good way)! I’ve loved every single one of their releases since their debut (Country Girls’ debut, not Country Musume‘s)~. I was a little skeptical about them adding Nanami and Funakki because, even though I knew both girls were talented, I thought the lineup was perfect as it was. Lucky for me (and everyone!), 2nd gen. only helps add to the group’s charm. Hooray~!! Momo is doing such an amazing job as their playing manager (Happy Birthday, Momo~!) ♥ Argh, I can’t get over how much I love this single. If you’re at all able, I would definitely recommend buying this; I know I will~!

°C-ute Concert Tour 2012 Haru Natsu ~Utsukushikutte Gomen ne~

June 30, 2012

I just finished watching °C-ute‘s final concert of their “2012 春夏~美しくってごめんね~” tour via YouTube live streaming~! =D This experience was much better than last year’s because the video didn’t buffer or skip at all~! Hooray! (Though my laptop did overheat and shut down part of the way through, so I had to run down to the family computer to finish it. O_O)
Anyway, here’s my (sort of) review for the concert. I tried to write down as much as possible, but sometimes I got distracted… by the concert. XD If anything I write seems a little choppy or lacking, it’s probably because of that. m(_ _)m

I woke up around 3:45 am (the concert was set to start at 4:30 am here), because I remembered seeing the girls rehearsing a bit before the last year’s streamed concert. This time, though, they showed the PVs for “Kiss me Aishiteru,” “Momoiro Sparkling,” “Sekaiichi HAPPY na Onna no Ko,” “Kimi wa Jitensha Watashi wa Densha de Kitaku,” and “Chou HAPPY SONG” instead. The screen showed a promotional picture from their seventh album along with the tour name and the message,  “まもなく始まります。 The Program will begin shortly.” At 4:30, the video began streaming, though there wasn’t any sound for a minute.

– °C-ute appeared in front of individual screens so that you could see their silhouettes. They started out with “Chou WONDERFUL!,” which, in my opinion, is a great song to start with. =D During some parts (the “Chou WONDERFUL WOW WONDERFUL” parts, I think), they would move to the side of their screens which would then show their individual closeups. Afterward, everyone went down to the front of the stage to dance while their silhouettes showed up on the screens before switching back to the random screen scenery (flashing lights, flying shapes/lines, etc.).

– Next was “Kacchoii Uta,” which made me super happy~! I love that song~. Anyway, there were solo dances in the middle of the song. One thing I noticed in this concert is that Nakky sounded really great; I always thought she had kind of a weak voice, but she did really well throughout. =)

– During a short MC, Maimai had everybody (in the different sections) say “Ho-oh~” … including the YouTube viewers. XD … I may have participated. XD

“Hitorijime Shitakatta Dake na no ni” was performed next. I hadn’t listened to their latest albums new songs (with the exception of “Yuke! Genki-kun” because of Maimai’s video for it, and “Shiawase no Tochuu” because of “Chou HAPPY SONG”), so I didn’t know what to expect. This was a pleasant surprise. ^_^ The dance was very °C-ute-like: sharp and involved. Everyone sounded great, too.

– They went right into “Ai wa Itsumo Itsumo” (the coupling track for “Kimi wa Jitensha…”), which also had an involved dance. Maimi sounded great.

– Maimi, Chisato, and Nakky then sang a bit of “Time Capsule,” which seemed pretty mellow after the previous songs and dances.

– Maimai then came out in a new outfit that had a bunch of different-colored bows on it. She also had a little guitar~. She sang her solo song, “Yuke! Genki-kun,” which the crowd really seemed to like. During the slower part of the song, she “played” the guitar a bit. She seemed to be having a bit of trouble singing at times. (^_^”)>

– Maimi then came out with a silvery blue and red dress with “X” patterns on either side (and it was rather short and tight =/) to sing “SHOCK!” for her solo. She sounded great! Also, she does those spins like a champ. XD

– Here there was another MC with all of the girls in their solo outfits. Nakky said to the YouTube audience (in English), “We hope you will have a fun day with °C-ute!”

– Next was Chisato’s solo song, “Tokai no Neon ga Odoroku Kurai no Utsukushisa ga Hoshii.” She wore a light blue outfit with a white collar, belt, boots, and headband. Her solo was a cool song with a rather nice auto-tuned section (I think that, if used correctly, auto-tuning can add a nice emphasis to parts of a song; just look at Buono!’s “DEEP MIND.”). Silhouette!Chisato was the backup dancer on all of the screens, which created a really neat effect.

– Nakky’s solo, “Kagayake! Houkago,” was next. It’s a cute song, and she looked like she was having fun during the dance break. She was wearing a flower-printed dress with a gold collar and a big hair bow (which I believe had the same flower print and gold material).

Airi sang “Bishoujo Shinri” for her solo. She sounded lovely as usual~. Her outfit was a white dress with a black pattern and a large, red, flower-type hair accessory.

– I was really excited about the next song… “★Akogare My STAR★”~! They had more of the screen effects so that the girls were dancing next to themselves (or above or below themselves). They also had closeups on the screens during some parts of the song. The girls didn’t just stay in one place, though; they moved around on the stage and went in and out through the doors, making the performance even more interesting. The screens blinked colors during the dance break.

– There was another MC at this time. Nakky, Maimi, and Chisato performed a little skit to answer some sort of question about their friendship. They took turns saying things to another member to show their friendship. (Sorry, I didn’t understand too much of the MC. orz)

– Next, Airi and Maimai came out and sang a some of “As ONE.” They had black and white outfits with a small outer layer to the skirt that was in their member color as well as a big heart shape on the front of their dress and a hair accessory.

– The others came out in similar outfits, and then they all sang a bit of “Hatachimae no Onna no Ko,” which I think is a cute song, even with the pig oinks. XD

– Next was “Sekaiichi HAPPY na Onna no Ko.” Hooray~!! =D I love this song, and it looked like °C-ute and the audience did, too~. ^_^

– They sang “Shiawase no Tochuu” next, which is a very pretty song, even on its own. Still… I couldn’t help singing some of “Because Happiness” to fill in some spots. (^_^”)>

– For the next MC, Airi and Maimi talked about “Chou HAPPY SONG” getting third on the charts, and they also mentioned other releases. (Next is a whole slew of performances that I really enjoyed~!)

– Nakky, Chisato, and Maimai came out in white outfits, with ared stripe down the front of the top and gold and white fringe over red shorts. They also had flags with which they started a flag performance to “Midnight Temptation.” Airi and Maimi joined them, and they did a really impressive job (anything would be impressive to me, though, because I’m sure I’d fail at flag twirling orz). They put the flags down to perform the song, but they picked them back up for the dance break. Someone accidentally dropped one that had been tossed to her (Maimi, maybe?).

“Tokaikko Junjou”~!! =D Anyone that reads my other blog probably knows what a connection I have to this song. It’s made even better by the fact that I’ve been playing Castlevania lately. XD Anyway, this was a great performance. They really rock this song. *nods*

“Meguru Koi no Kisetsu” was next~! Another favorite! I was really excited to see this one! Unfortunately, this is where my laptop overheated, so I didn’t get to see the entire performance. T_T I did, however, make it to the family computer in time for…

“Dance de Bakoon!” Woohoo~! They had more screen effects during the “JAJJAJJAA JAAJAJAJJAJJAA” parts, and the beginning of the chorus showed closeups of the members doing the dance moves. Streamers fell during this song~. =D I think this one is already up there in popularity with the likes of “Massara Blue Jeans,” “Tokaikko Junjou,” and…

“Seishun Song”~! Airi sang a ballad-like intro before they went into the regular song. They were twirling their towels and having a ton of fun, and you can totally tell that they–and the audience–all love this song. ^__^

– There was another short MC here.

– Lastly, there was “Kimi wa Jitensha Watashi wa Densha de Kitaku,” which is such a pretty song (though I prefer faster ones). The girls went back to stand in front of the screens so that you could only see their silhouettes as they waved goodbye at the end of the song.

– After the girls left the stage, the crowd began a chant of “Kyuu-to!” that lasted for four to five minutes before the girls came back out for the encore.

– They performed “Zuntaka March ~Hitorashiku Ikiyou~” from their latest album. I absolutely love it! It’s a funky song with some almost enka-like sections. Chisato and Airi had really strong and almost rough vocals in this one, which was really kind of fun to hear. XD Their outfits were big headbows in either light blue (Maimi and Airi) or light pink (Nakky, Chisato, and Maimai) with matching, fluffy skirts and cropped tour T-shirts in their member colors that also had different-colored bows attached. They waved mini flags during this performance, too.

– There was another MC here. Maimi said to the YouTube audience (in English), “Thank you very much! Please come and enjoy our concert again next time!” One of the members also said, “I love you~!” XD After that, Berryz Koubou showed up in their red, “Chou HAPPY SONG” outfits~! A huge cake was rolled out for the H!P Kids tenth anniversary. The audience sang “Happy birthday” (one of the girls said, “But it’s not a birthday!” XD) and then they all blew out the candles together before the cake was rolled back off the stage.

– They all sang “Chou HAPPY SONG” after that. The only note I was able to write when I was watching that performance was “LOVE THIS SO MUCH,” and even that was just barely scribbled out. XD

– Berryz left after that and Nakky pointed out that someone’s bow fell off during the performance (I’m not sure if it was someone from Berryz or °C-ute who lost the bow).

– The final song was another favorite of mine, “Iza, Susume! Steady go!” Nakky is amazing in this song! Everyone was really great and energetic, so I felt obligated to sing and dance along with the “Iza susume! Susume!” etc. and the “WOW WOW WOW WOW” etc. lines. XDD There were some bursts of fire going off on the top stage during this song.

– After that, the promotional picture from before the concert was back, except, this time, it said, “終了しました。ありがとうございました。 The Program has finished. Thank you for watching.”

I was going through my notes and putting stars next to my favorite performances when °C-ute suddenly appeared again! They thanked the audience again and said that they didn’t really want to leave. They had Airi and Maimai do the friendship thing that the others had done earlier. At the end, they all said they loved each other and shared a group hug. They told the audience they loved them, too, and then they left with one last “Otsukare-raisu!” from Maimai.

That was the end~. It seems like, each time I watch a concert, I end up liking the group even more. For °C-ute, there’s still a lot that I don’t know about them, and there are many songs of theirs that I haven’t heard (I had to have another tab open while the concert was going so I could search for the titles of songs I didn’t know orz), so I really feel like I should take the time to go through all of their old songs and pay better attention to their more recent album and coupling tracks.

Ah, I forgot to list my favorite performances~: Chou WONDERFUL!, Kacchoii Uta, ★Akogare My STAR★, Hatachimae no Onna no Ko, Midnight Temptation, Tokaikko Junjou, Meguru Koi no Kisetsu (what I saw of it, at least), Dance de Bakoon!, Seishun Song, Zuntaka March ~Hitorashiku Ikiyou~, Chou HAPPY SONG, and Iza, Susume! Steady go!

(Sorry if this post was kind of all over the place; if I find any mistakes or remember anything else, I’ll be sure edit this. (^_^”)>

Hooray for °C-ute~! =D

Morning Musume – Renai Hunter PV

May 4, 2012

Settings – The dance shot takes place in a well-lit, white room, which really adds to the futuristic/robotic feeling of the song. The group close-ups where the girls are posing for the camera(s) seem to take place in the same room, but with lower lighting. The individual close-ups are also very brightly lit and include the shiny, silver, sequined curtains that remind me of other H!P PVs, such as S/mileage‘s “Yume Miru 15sai” and Berryz Koubou‘s “Maji Bomber!!” (though that was shiny fabric). Again, it fits with the futuristic feel of the song… but I’m a bit tired of seeing it. orz

Outfits – More shiny silver! The outfits also have colored stripes sprinkled with white (unless those are silver, too) stars. The colors follow the following pattern: Gaki-san –> yellow; Sayu, Reina, and Mittsi –> black; 9th gen. –> red; and 10th gen. –> blue. I know others have already pointed this out, but I figured I might as well mention it, because I noticed it right away when I first saw the PV. The kyuukies color is red, which happens to be Riho‘s color, and Riho is the most prominent 9ki member in this song; blue, Daishi‘s color, is for the juukies, and she is also the main 10ki member in this song. There has also been mention of Gaki-san getting Ai-chan‘s color for her outfit, though I have to wonder if they were just going for primary colors and it happened to turn out well. (^_^”)> Anyway, it was also nice to see everyone’s hair down for a change. ^_^ I also rather like the black boots and gloves used for the outfits; I think it completes the look.

Dance – Oh boy… Well, actually, I really like most of the dance. =) It seems quite different from a lot of Morning Musume‘s usual dances. I absolutely love the dance break, but I was a bit disappointed by how little most of the members get to do during the verses; it was just, *pose* *move a bit* *change pose* *move a bit more* =/ The chorus is really simplistic as well, but it’s really high-energy and a lot of fun to dance to, as with the rest of the dance. The only move that I wasn’t too keen on was, of course, the signature move: knees bent out to either side, arms straight up, and hands pointed to the right as they look to the right. (^_^”)> It was made even more awkward when they tiptoed in place and wiggled their fingers. It’s still a bit weird to me, but, after doing the dance myself, I got a little more used to it. XD

PV Misc. – There were two different types of miscellaneous scenes for this PV: the group close-ups and the magazine covers. In the group shots, the girls are all posing in a fairly low-lit room as fans blows their hair around and (what seem to be) camera flashes temporarily brighten the shots. In the magazine shots, we see the girls posing with lollipops while they suddenly appear on the covers of magazines that have information about each girl and the single. I like that they kept the girls moving instead of taking a still shot for the covers. =D I also liked how the text flies in~. Bonus shot: Gaki-san, with a tattoo that says, “モーニング娘。” on her cheek, mouths “Morning Musume daisuki,” at the end of the PV. That ending absolutely killed me. TT_TT I’m going to miss Gaki-san!

Song – It’s too bad that we didn’t get to hear any solo lines from most of the members, but I was really happy with how many lines Gaki-san got. They probably realized that fans would freak out if she didn’t get the focus for her graduation single. Also, I was really impressed with Riho’s singing in this one. ^__^ The song itself if really cool and catchy; I didn’t mind the electronic feel of it. I also didn’t mind Sayu’s auto-tuned line; I thought it fit with the song~.

Overall, I think this is a really great graduation single for Gaki-san. I wish there had been a little more color, but I suppose, for this kind of song, the silver, black, and white combination fits best. I’m a bit unnerved by the fact that I didn’t really notice Mittsi’s absence (though I’m thinking that has to do with the fact that I watched the dance shot version more). o_o [Note: I wrote this review before her graduation announcement. Now I feel worse. orz]

I guess that’s all I have to say for this one~.

You know, I’ve been thinking… maybe I should just do a couple of paragraphs with my reactions to the single instead of these extensive reviews. Others do a much better job of covering everything, so I think it’s kind of unnecessary for me to do so as well. (^_^”)> I think I’ll try something different with future reviews.

More H!P PV Mini Reviews

February 29, 2012

Ah~, I haven’t posted anything this month! o_o I haven’t written any reviews for this year’s H!P PVs either! D= Here are some mini-reviews for four of this year’s H!P PVs.

Morning Musume – Pyoko Pyoko Ultra
I’m glad to see that the hate for this video has died down somewhat. (^_^”)> I thought the PV was cute by itself (the music and lyrics made it adorable). I loved seeing the dance shot in the tiny windows (I know it’s a cheap effect, but I still like it), but, like most others, I wasn’t terribly fond of the projected images moving across the set. However, I will say that I’m very glad that they tried something different besides the usual “closeup/dance shot/pose” PV combination. =D The super-bright yellow was another surprise, but, again, it’s rather nice to see something other than black and/or white outfits. I was a bit disappointed that the juukies weren’t given more or longer lines; it’s not as easy to judge their singing with such short lines. (^_^”)> I thought the scene with Gaki-san turning the cloud around was cute, as well as projected!Gaki-san with the umbrella and the cake and such. ^_^ It was actually really fun seeing so many members in a video again~.

S/mileage – Chotomate Kudasai!
I suppose I rather like the song, but the PV didn’t leave too much of an impression on me, so I haven’t listened to the song much. I’m not sure how I feel about the high notes… Anyway… The dance is rather spazzy in parts, isn’t it? XD The background reminded me of “Mr. Moonlight ~Ai no Big Band” as well as Momoiro Clover‘s “Mirai Bowl,” for whatever reason. I was a bit irritated with the fact that Kana and Rina were completely cut out of some parts of the dance; you could see the other four and that was it. (-_-“) I didn’t quite understand the parts where they hit the glass, and the parts where they were drawing on it didn’t interest me too much (though I laughed at the face Kana drew). I don’t have too much to say about this one; I put it in the same group as “Shortcut” and “Tachiagaaru;” that is, it didn’t really grab my interest, but I’m sure I’ll come to love the song and like the PV more. (^_^”)>

Buono! – Hatsukoi CIDER
AARRGHH, I love this song! I’ve listened to it so, so, so many times since the PV came out. Speaking of the PV, I love that, too! The black, white, and grey background really makes their pink outfits stand out (though I can’t say I’m a big fan of Miyabi‘s short pants). I love the window effects used in this video! I’ve seen it before, but it’s still really neat. And then there’s the glass floor effect reminiscent of “Renai Revolution 21,” which I also really like, especially when they’re moving the girls in and out of frame. This definitely ranks up there as one of my favorite Buono! songs, and the PV wasn’t too shabby either! =D

Buono! – DEEP MIND
It actually took a while for this song to grow on me, which is incredibly odd for me when it comes to Buono! songs. (^_^”)> My favorite part of the song is actually the slightly auto-tuned part (it doesn’t bother me so much, because I know that it would sound just as good without the effect) as well as the powerful “sagasou” shortly after that. As for the PV, the girls look gorgeous, but… nothing really happened in the video. (^_^”)> The camerawork and quick cuts were somewhat interesting, but I always like to see something more in PVs. orz

That’s all for now. (Sorry for not writing about Mano Erina‘s new PV this time around. m(_ _)m)

Morning Musume – 12, Smart Album Review

November 21, 2011

Sorry for the long wait! m(_ _)m

1. Give me LOVE
– After listening to it a couple of times, I realized that it reminded me of “Aishite Aishite Ato Ippun” a bit. I like how the verses are arranged with a solo line then a shared line. And of course I like the echoing effect on the “Give me love” lines. =) As a general thought for these songs (and, I suppose all Morning Musume songs), I have to wonder who will take over all of Ai-chan‘s lines. Will Gaki-san get them, or will they be divided between Reina and Riho? And will “Mr. Moonlight ~Ai no Big Band~” ever be performed again?! I’m getting off topic… (^_^”)>

2. Only you
– I absolutely love this song! I don’t even mind that Ai-chan and Reina sing most of it. The chorus is so catchy and the dance is easy to remember and fun to do. Plus, Gaki-san’s lines are awesome! =D

3. Silver no Udedokei
– I was impressed with Riho’s first few lines (though many of her other lines seemed rather nasally =/); she continues to improve with each song. =) I was also very impressed with Mittsi‘s rap; I think she could really benefit from singing in her lower voice more often. It seems much more natural than the high voice she usually uses. One last thing about this song… the line “Dry ya eyes” kind of irritates me. (-_-“)

4. Suki da na Kimi ga
– I actually rather like this song, but… I can hardly hear Fuku-chan! D= I’m not sure how I feel about the staccato sound of some of the lines (“nemui keredo” etc.), but I rather enjoy the chorus. I may like the song more if it wasn’t so long. (^_^”)>

5. Kaiketsu Positive A
– I’m not very fond of the solo lines in the verses, but I like the chorus well enough. I will say Eripon‘s lower voice was a pleasant surprise, and I liked Mittsi’s solo lines. Overall, it’s not my favorite track on the album. =/ Maybe it will grow on me with time; others have~. =)

6. Kono Ai wo Kasanete
– This is a lovely, mellow song featuring Ai-chan and Gaki-san. It vaguely reminds me of “Loving you forever” from their 10 My Me album, as well as “Koe” from their Ai no Dai 6kan album (especially Gaki-san’s “Uh fu” lines during the music break). It’s very pretty and relaxing~.

7. Kono Chikyuu no Heiwa wo Honki de Negatterun da yo!
– Another song with awesome Gaki-san lines! As I’ve said before (I think), I wasn’t terribly impressed with this song when I first heard the radio preview. In fact, it wasn’t until I learned the dance that I really appreciated it. The chorus has great lyrics, and the music is very disco-y; what a great combination. XD

8. Kare to Issho ni Omise ga Shitai!
– I do believe this song ties with “Only you” for my favorite Morning Musume single this year; actually, I may even like this one a little more. =D It really reminds me of the older Morning Musume songs because it’s more fun than a lot of their recent stuff (as much as I love some of their more mature songs, “Nanchatte Renai” being one of my absolute favorite H!P songs, I really love listening to their happy, upbeat music~). I never thought a song with Sayumi as lead would end up being one of my favorites (then again, I loved “Fantasy ga Hajimaru” from their Fantasy! Juuichi album). =D

9. My Way ~Joshikou Hanamichi~
– This reminds me of another H!P song, or, at least, of a style from another H!P group, but, of course, I can’t place it. orz I’m glad that the lines were more evenly distributed, and the tune is fairly catchy. I think I like this one more than “Kaiketsu Positive A,” but I’ll have to listen to both more to be sure. (^_^”)>

10. Otome no Timing
– This kind of sounds like it would be a Berryz Koubou album track. XD It also reminds me of S/mileage‘s “Jitensha Chiririn.” Though I don’t mind Mittsi’s voice in this, I still prefer it when she sings lower. Zukki, on the other hand, sounds great, especially for having as little experience as she does. Eripon is more in the “high-pitched, nasally” group for her singing (which is cute enough in small doses), so I believe I like Zukki’s voice the most in this song. =D

11. OK YEAH!
– I’m not the biggest fan of the opening “OKs,” and I could take or leave the “Yeah yeah yeah yeah x2” parts, but, otherwise, I enjoy this song. =D I thought the song had switched to Berryz Koubou’s “Dschinghis Khan Tarutaru Mix” for a second during the instrumental break because of that “Go yes, go yes” (or whatever is being said) part. XD

12. Maji Desu ka Ska!
– Oddly enough, there are times when I dread this song coming up in a shuffled playlist; it’s not that I dislike it (far from it), but I listened to it so much when it first came out and when I was learning the dance that it neared the point of joining “Koi no Dance Site,” “Renai Revolution 21,” “The Peace!,” “Mr. Moonlight ~Ai no Big Band~,” and others on my “List of Songs That I’ve Exhausted.” However, just like all of those songs, I find that, when the song does come up, I still enjoy listening to it. XD It’s still a very fun song and a good reminder of not only the ninth generation but also of the return of happier MM singles~. ^_^

Overall, 12, Smart is a solid album with a few great singles and some catchy album tracks. I can’t seem to give it as much attention as I’m sure it deserves yet (I think 10 My Me spoiled me (^_^”)>), but I’m sure I’ll warm up to the songs after a bit. After all, in my review for their Fantasy! Juuichi album, I didn’t have much to say about “Itoshiku Kurushii Kono Yoru ni,” but I love it now~. =D

“Chotto Ikashita PURE BLOG” 2nd Anniversary and a Few Mini PV Reviews

September 26, 2011

Today is the two-year anniversary of “Chotto Ikashita PURE BLOG”! =D Hooray~~~… even though I don’t post very much on here. orz

The problem is, I don’t especially want to post news, because it’s always posted elsewhere before I hear about it. (^_^”)> I usually post PV reviews, but my arms have been in bad condition for the past few weeks because of too much computer use, so I can only type slowly and for a short amount of time. orz So, I thought I’d do a few mini-reviews to catch up.

Morning Musume – Kono Chikyuu no Heiwa wo Honki de Negatterun da yo!
– This song has grown on me~. I was a bit indifferent to it when I first heard it, but I like it more now. ^_^ I kind of thought the PV would have an Egyptian look when I first saw the outfits, but I was wrong. Unfortunately, I thought the “story” scenes were a bit on the boring side (except for Ai-chan catching the star and then throwing it again; I adored that scene… AUGH I’m going to miss her T_T). The dance was slightly disappointing to me, but, like the song, it’s growing on me.

Morning Musume – Kare to Issho ni Omise ga Shitai!
– I loved this song from the first listen! ♥ Sayu does so well as the lead for this song, and Reina is strong as usual. Will they be the new focus, I wonder? Or will they get more Riho than Sayu in future releases? Or Gaki-san? Anyway, I love the song, and the PV is my favorite MM PV in goodness knows how long! I love the bright colors, the crazy outfits, and the cheesy-but-amazing effects. I loved the silly faces. XD My only gripe is the lack of Fuku-chan; I didn’t see too much of her. =/ Also, I wish there was a dance for this! T_T

Berryz Koubou – Aa, Yo ga Akeru
– I was just… underwhelmed by this release. =( I can only remember a few parts of the song (though I remember not caring for Miyabi‘s “Hoo hoo hoo”‘s during the instrumental break (-_-”)), and what I did remember, I wasn’t terribly impressed with. The girls looked fine, but I didn’t really like their outfits. In my opinion, the dance was lacking something as well. The only redeeming features were the pretty settings and the fact that the girls sounded good, even if I wasn’t really fond of the song. =\ Maybe I’ll like it more if I listen to it more…

°C-ute – Seikaiichi HAPPY na Onna no Ko
– First of all, the song is cute and fun, but it still took me some time to remember much of it. (^_^”)> I absolutely LOVED the PV, though! Bright colors, little rooms that match their outfits, the “domino” scenes, the lying around randomly… I just loved the whole thing! The fact that the dance shot version isn’t at a fixed angle is a bit irritating, but what can you do.

S/mileage – Tachiagaaru
– I rather like the chorus (though I can’t seem to remember it at the moment… or any of the rest of the song for that matter orz). Unfortunately, the PV just didn’t do anything for me. There just didn’t seem to be anything of interest going on. =/ Seeing only three full members in S/mileage makes me a bit sad, but so does seeing Fuyuka; she’s adorable, and I hope she can recover fully and maybe be part of the group again some day.

I suppose that’s about all I have to say for these. I wish I could have written more. orz

I know I don’t get very many views on this blog, but thank you to those who do check it out every once in a while. I appreciate the time you take to read it! ^_^

S/mileage Concert Tour 2011 Fall ~Gyakushuu no Chou Mini Skirt~

September 18, 2011

I just finished watching 「スマイレージコンサートツアー2011秋~逆襲の超ミニスカート~」 (S/mileage‘s streamed concert) on YouTube~! =D While I didn’t enjoy it quite as much as Buono!‘s concert, it was still entertaining. I wrote down the setlist~. Please note that my Japanese is very limited so anything I say about the MC portions are only rough ideas (^_^”)>. Also, I apologize for not writing too much; I’ve used the computer a lot, so, for the past month or so, my arms have been killing me. O_O Anyway, on to the details!

1. Tachiagaaru
I like this song~! The “fua fua” parts reminded me of “Chu! Natsu Party.” It’s cute; I don’t quite understand why so many people seem to dislike it already…

2. Otona ni Narutte Muzukashii!!!
Hooray! I guess I like this song more than I thought, because I was really excited to hear it. I couldn’t help but dance along, as I’m currently working on a tutorial for the dance. XD The audience really seemed to get into it.

~ MC 1
– Highlights: Kanon‘s message to YouTube viewers (in English) – “I hope everyone calls me Cinderella!” and the “Cinderella Revolution! Ban, ban, ban, BAN!” that followed. XD
Ayacho‘s “Ayacho BRAVO!” call
Meimei‘s “Meimei Beam!” (though it kind of sounded like “Mayuge Beam”… it wasn’t was it?!) and the short battle between “Meimei Beam!” and “Cinderella Revolution!”

3. OO Ganbaranakutemo Eenende!!
This song featured 1st gen. S/mileage and Kana. The video buffered and skipped for part of this, so I didn’t get to see the whole thing. orz

4. Onna Bakari no Nichiyoubi
Another 1st gen. + Kana song. Aaaaahh~, I love this song~, and the performance was great! Ayacho and Kanon did the main singing, and it looked like Yuuka did most of the secondary vocals, while Kana joined her on some parts.

5. Hatsukoi no Anata e
I was happy that this song was included; it’s definitely one of my favorite S/mileage coupling tracks. =D Meimei did a good job with her lines on this one.

6. Panya-san no Arubaito
This song is adorable (and another favorite coupling track)! This one also had Meimei (whom I mistook for Kana the first time I watched it; I didn’t even notice when they switched out before “Hatsukoi no Anata e” O_O).

~ MC 2
– 1st gen. S/mileage had the topics “Tsunku-san” and “Uso (lie).” For the second one, Yuuka and Ayacho immediately pointed at Kanon. XD If I understood correctly, Kanon defended herself by saying that she told “cute lies” while Yuuka and Ayacho told “scary lies.” XDD

7. aMa no Jaku
This one featured the sub-members only. I thought they did rather well. =) This song is definitely growing on me.

8. Yume Miru 15sai
Another one with only the sub-members… as well as another one that skipped on me. (>_<*) I saw very little of this performance. orz

~ MC 3
– Announcement for sub-members smile campaign and the sub-members were asked a few questions; next is a solo medley for 1st gen. (and a costume change).

9. Gakkyuu Innchou – Yuuka
It took me some time to remember what the song was because I prefer S/mileage’s more upbeat songs, but Yuuka did a very nice job on this.

10. Asu wa Deeto na no ni, Imasugu Koe ga Kikitai – Kanon
Ah~, the song that made my start paying attention to S/mileage. ❤ I’m not sure if she did it in this song, but I noticed that Kanon seems to be doing something simliar to Reina‘s singing (though I’m not sure if Reina still does it…) at some points; it’s almost like she over-emphasizes the “t” sounds in words, if you understand what I mean.

11. Smile Bijin – Ayacho
I like this song a lot more after watching them perform it. And may I just say that Ayacho has improved immesely from when she started (I think I say that every time I talk about S/mileage XD). ^_^

~ MC 4
– This was a skit with mostly the 1st gen., but Take-chan came in near the end.

12. Jitensha Chiririn
It was 1st gen. + Take-chan for this one. Again, I usually prefer the more upbeat S/mileage songs, so I haven’t listened to this very much. (^_^”)> Take-chan is very talented, though. =) Kanon kept trying to pull the poor girl’s skirt up during this song (and she succeeded a couple of times XD).

~ MC 5
– 1st gen. + Meimi and Rina; the topic was “Taking a picture with Yasuda Kei-san.” They each acted it out with Yuuka as Kei. Rina’s method was described as normal; Meimei kept saying something about the camera not working I think?; Ayacho said, “Though I’d rather take a picture with Yaguchi-san…” then pretended to run over to “Yaguchi-san” while ignoring “Yasuda-san” XD; Kanon started to take a picture with “Kei,” but instead shoved her out of the way to take a picture of herself because, after all, she is the “#1 cutest.” XDD

13. Shooting Star
This was 1st gen. with Meimei. As cute as she is, I kind of hope Meimei brings her “in-your-face-cute-and-genki-ness” down a bit… (^_^”)> I like this song, though~.

14. Shortcut
1st gen. + Rina. Of the singles that featured Saki, “Shortcut” is probably my least favorite, but I rather enjoyed this performance. Rina did well, but I hope she gains a bit more confidence. Kanon sang Saki’s last line.

15. Odorou yo
I love this song! I just had to sing along. XD It has a “Summer Raggae! Rainbow” feeling to it. This song also featured Rina, as well as a costume change during Tsunku’s rap.

16. Koi ni Booing Buu!
1st. gen + Take-chan. I really got into this one, and so did the audience, it seems. XD It’s such a fun song~.

17. Onaji Jikyuu de Hataraku Tomodachi no Bijin Mama
With Take-chan again. This was another really great performance! I couldn’t help singing and dancing along. I think Take-chan would make a very good full member for the group. ^_^

18. Uchouten LOVE
Everyone took part in this song. This is probably my favorite single from S/mileage, so I continued to sing and dance along. XD 1st gen. did the dance on one side, while the sub-members did the dance on the other side.

After this, the girls went offstage. The crowd chanted for S/mileage for a few minutes, then the girls came back for the encore.

19. Smile Ondon
This is a coupling track for “Tachiagaaru.” It has the same sound as “Shiawase Kyouryuu Ondo” (Enka style). The girls were wearing short robes in their colors (those matsuri-type robes… I don’t know the name orz) over their last costume. For a recap on member colors: Ayacho – blue, Yuuka – pink, Kanon – purple, Kana – light blue, Take-chan – red, Rina – yellow, Meimi – green (a darker green than Saki had).

~ MC 6

20. Suki-chan
… I may have freaked out when this song started. XD This is my favorite indies single, and it may even tie with “Uchouten LOVE” for my favorite S/mileage single in general. =D

And that was the end~. My favorite performances were probably “Otona ni…,” “Onna Bakari…,” “Koi ni Booing Buu!,” “Bijin Mama,” “Uchouten LOVE,” and “Suki-chan.” ^_^ As with the previous concerts I watched, it was an enjoyable experience, and I think it was worth getting up at three-o’clock in the morning to make sure I didn’t miss it. XD

Buono! Live Tour 2011 Summer Rock’n Buono! 4 at Yokohama Blitz

August 28, 2011

I just finished watching Buono!‘s concert from their live stream on YouTube~! =D At first, I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to watch it, because our Internet connection wasn’t working so well, but it finally loaded about half-an-hour before the concert started. At first, the video was glitching pretty terribly, and it would pause to buffer quite a lot as well, but I noticed a comment that said it helped to watch it on their channel, so I did that, and it was much, much better~. Unfortunately, I didn’t figure that out until about seven songs in, so I didn’t get to hear too much of those ones. =/ Anyway, after a few songs, I decided that I should probably write down the set list so I would have something to look at for this post, so here they are (I’m fairly certain I got all of them…)!

1. partenza~Lets Go!!!~
From the little that I saw of this one, it looked like a really cool performance; the dance was interesting and the girls sounded great. I don’t really understand why some people hate this song so much (well, I suppose I kind of do, but…). o_O

2. FrankincenseΨ
For Miyabi‘s solo, Airi and Momo danced along and did some of the backup vocals (on the “To Prize”/”Get Wise” lyrics and such). I actually rather like the song, but I knew that it would have a “sexy” dance, which it did, and I’m not too fond of that. (^_^”)> It wasn’t as bad as some that I’ve seen, though. Overall, it was a good performance. (An MC followed this song.)

3. Rottara Rottara
Aaahh, I wish it hadn’t glitched during this one! T_T I love this song, and the girls seemed to have fun with it. Then again, they seemed to have fun with all of them.

4. Kira Kira
This is a cute song~. I was kind of surprised to hear it though. I don’t know why. (^_^”)> I do know that I’ll probably be listening to it more now. =D

5. Kia Ora Gracias Arigato
Aargh, another one that I wish hadn’t glitched! I really love Momo’s solo song, especially the chorus. Airi and Miya danced and sang along with the “Yuuki! Genki! Yaruki! Hyakubai!” and the “Wow wow” lines. (An MC followed this song.)

6. Blue-Sky-Blue
This is a pretty song, but, again, I only heard a few bits and pieces of it. (-_-”)

7. My alright sky
This is Airi’s solo with Momo and Miya doing the backup vocals. This is a really lovely song, and it really shows off what a skillful singer Airi is. I think this song would even impress Airi-haters (I can’t believe they exist!). (An MC followed this song.)

8. Kiss! Kiss! Kiss!
Since I started watching the concert on their channel (instead of on the YouTube page) about halfway through “My alright sky,” “Kiss! Kiss! Kiss!” was actually the first one I watched that had minimum glitching/buffering, and let me tell you… I was excited. XD I started singing along and doing the arm movements. For the part where they “fall asleep,” they had a prolonged pause, which I thought was a nice touch.

At this point, the girls went offstage to change while the band (DOLCE) was introduced.

9. Renai Rider
They only did a very small portion of this song… a little more than the chorus, I think.

10. Muteki no ∞ Power
I like this song~~~! =D However, I don’t seem to remember anything in particular about the performance. It was great, but I don’t remember anything standing out.

11. Nakimushi Shounen
This one got me really fired up! It’s sooo much fun to listen to, and the girls really got into it. 8D (An MC followed this song, and Momo declared it to be “drink time.” XD)

12. 1/3 no Junjou na Kanjou
They sang the first part of the song a cappella. ❤ I’ve been listening to this song almost constantly since their mini album came out, so, when I recognized it, I started tearing up a bit. XD This performance was amazing, and it just reminded why I love this song and Buono!

13. JUICY HE@RT
Unlike the PV, the girls all had solo lines in this version, and there was a dance as well. I think I prefer it with the solo lines (though I still think the PV is gorgeous).

14. Ice Mermaid
I haven’t listened to this song very much, but I’ve never heard a bad performance from Buono!, and this was no exception. (An MC followed this song.)

15. Our Songs
This is another one that made me really excited! I think I previously described this song as a very “Buono!-like” Buono! song, and that still holds true. ❤

16. Lady Panther
A great performance of one of my favorite Buono! coupling tracks~! I found it only slightly odd, because I’m used to the version where they had the leopard print outfits. XD The singing was perfect, though.

17. Janakya Mottainai!
Another one of my favorite coupling tracks! =DD I didn’t hear as much of this one because my brother was talking to me at the time, but it was still awesome.

18. MY BOY
Yay~, so many high energy songs! 8D I always like the songs where they sing in deeper voices.

The girls then went offstage. The crowd chanted for Buono! (and DOLCE, too, I believe) for about five minutes before they came back on in different costumes (probably my favorites).

19. Natsu Dakara!
They did a beautiful job on this one. During Airi’s spoken lines, the crowd was going wild. My favorite part was probably Airi’s lines after the spoken lines (where she sings while the music is quiet, then it picks back up partway through). ^__^ (An MC followed this song.)

20. Warp!
This is such an awesome song, and it’s just as awesome watching the crowd participation as everyone twirls their towels around. To be honest, I wanted to join in, so I found a hat that was Airi green and started twirling that. XDD I felt a bit stupid, but it was a lot of fun. I can only imagine how amazing being at the actual performance must feel.

And that was the end~. I have to say, as much as I enjoyed °C-ute‘s concert when I watched that one on YouTube, I really, really loved Buono!’s, because I knew more of the songs (and it didn’t glitch as much). ❤ The only thing that would have made it better (for me) is if “Zassou no Uta” had been included (and maybe “Gachinko de Ikou!” and “Kataomoi.,” too).

The highlights for me (though I’m sure you could probably tell) were “Kiss! Kiss! Kiss!,” “Nakimushi Shounen,” “1/3 no Junjou na Kanjou,” “Our Songs,” and “Warp!” ^___^

Also, I love the T-shirts for this tour! I’ve always loved the card theme (I’ve done something similar with my own pictures before). I actually really, really want an Airi shirt, because Airi is my favorite member, green is my favorite color, and the club/clover is my favorite suit. XD The only problem is, I don’t really like wearing peoples’ faces on my clothes (and they’re expensive!). XD

So ends a great experience. I am so grateful that the H!P groups have YouTube channels and that they’ve decided to stream concerts every once in a while. ❤
