♥🍑♥ Thank You, Momochi~! ♥🍑♥

June 30, 2017

Congratulations, Momo~!.jpg

I wanted to write something for Momo‘s graduation… but the day is almost over, and I really don’t know what to write… Not to sound weird or cheesy, but I can’t help but tear up every time I think about it.

When I first started paying attention to other Hello! Project groups, I found that I really enjoyed Berryz Koubou and Buono! music. Miyabi was my favorite for a while; I thought she was a great singer and really fashionable; I liked seeing her in both groups. Momo was also in both groups… but I found her so irritating. The super-cutesy voice and antics just weren’t my cup of tea. I had done a Hello! Project member sorter/ranker, and she was at the very bottom (I remember it being a promotional picture for “Kiss! Kiss! Kiss!,” so it had to be around spring of 2008 or so?). At some point, though, that changed.

I think it might have been around the time “Gachinko de Ikou!” came out that I finally “got” Momo’s character (because it was, indeed, just a character), and I paid more attention to her voice, so I realized that she could actually sing very well (I remember really loving her last solo line in “Gachinko de Ikou!” for whatever reason). Actually, now that I think about it, the video for “Gachinko de Ikou!” really helped me warm up to Momo. I suddenly found myself to be an otomomochi. XD (I’m not sure if “otomomochi” was even a thing when that came out…)

Momo was always a highlight in talk segments (I would have loved to have seen her using her Momochi character on Utaban back in the day XD) (Apologies for the naughty word in the title of this video; I couldn’t find it elsewhere orz)…

…behind-the-scenes/making of/random clips (like in the making of for “Tomodachi wa Tomodachi Nanda!” when the tide rolled in and Momo was stuck with water up past her knees)…

…and DVD magazines (Momo reading English cards for Buono! DVD Magazine Vol. 2).

Two times in particular that I couldn’t help but like her more are as follows: when Miya, Captain, and Maasa went into the haunted house at that theme park (poor Momo couldn’t stand the scary sounds)…

…and when Berryz was in Hawaii and that one guy was hiding in their van so he could jump out and scare them (around the 1:40 mark in the video; after he had “caused a scene” earlier). Again, poor Momo had been so terrified, I just wanted to give her a hug and pat her on the head.

There have just been so many great Momo Moments (that’s fun to say XD). I love that she was able to keep a smile through Berryz Koubou’s last concert as well as her own.

Koharu was the first graduation I dealt with as a fan (not including the Elder Club mass graduation or Umeda Erika‘s because I wasn’t following °C-ute too closely at that point); she wasn’t my favorite member of Morning Musume, so I didn’t really cry. Kamei, Junjun, and Linlin‘s graduation was sadder for me; I think I shed a few tears watching the graduation messages. The same goes for Ai-chan, Gaki-san, Mittsi, Reina, and Sayu (though, when it was first announced, I was certain I would be bawling when Gaki-san graduated). The end of Berryz hit me pretty hard, as did the end of °C-ute. Mano Erina, Riho, Zukki, Kanon, Meimei, Manakan… I was really sad to see all of them go… but I don’t recall every crying like I did when I watched a clip of the very end of Momo’s graduation concert. (Not sure how long this video will be available…)

Even though she’s about a year-and-a-half younger than me, I’ve come to look up to her so much; her work ethic and positivity. Ah… I’ll miss her so much.

♥🍑♥🍑♥🍑♥🍑♥🍑♥🍑♥🍑♥🍑♥ 🍑♥🍑♥🍑♥🍑♥🍑♥🍑♥🍑♥
Momo! Thank you for fifteen years of wonderful music, fun videos, hard work, and great memories~! I’ll always be an otomomochi~.

H!P’s Latest Changes – Transfers and Debuts

June 27, 2017

Lots of big things will be happening with Hello! Project very soon~! I made sure to get up early to watch the special episode of Hello! Station with all of the announcements.

Morito Chisaki to Morning Musume ’17
– My surprise for this was not so much who went to MM but the fact that anyone was added to MM at all. I thought they might try to build up the fanbases of the other groups a bit more by adding established members. I don’t have any problem with Chii-chan being added, and, of the available members, I can see why they added her. I just worry about the group dynamic; this seems to be one of those weird Mikitty situations where Chisaki debuted before the 13th generation of MM, but it was in another group, so 13th gen. is technically her senpai in Morning Musume even though she technically has seniority… I don’t know how this whole thing will work, but I just want everyone to get along well. (^_^”) I think Chii-chan will do just fine, though~.

Yanagawa Nanami and Danbara Ruru to Juice=Juice
– Again, my surprise was for the fact that members were added to Juice=Juice. That being said, I’m excited for Juice=Juice’s first release with the new members. I’ve been rooting for Ruru to debut for a long time (such amazing vocals!) and before this whole transfer was announced, I was leaning towards Yanamin being my favorite in Country Girls. I’m excited~!

Funaki Musubu and Kawamura Ayano to ANGERME
– I assumed ANGERME would get a new member, but two! I really feel like I should be paying more attention to the ANGERME members because they seem so animated and interesting. I’d really like to see that kind of fun attitude in some of their videos, but that’s neither here nor there… XD I love Funakki, and I already have a bit of a soft spot for Ayano after she sort of tripped when she was being introduced to the group, so I don’t mind these additions. XD

Ichioka Reina to lead a new group
– Ooh~, a new group! I really want a group that has happy, fun, colorful releases like Golden Era Morning Musume or 4nin S/mileage. PLEASE. Also, I’d really like to see a smaller group for once.

Overall, I don’t mind the additions and transfers. My only gripe is this: the groups are huge. I’d like to see them have groups of three to seven again, maybe eight at the most (not necessarily for MM, though), but here’s what we’ll have after Momo‘s graduation:
Morning Musume – 14 members (until Duu‘s graduation)
ANGERME – 11 members (including Aiai)
Juice=Juice – 7 members
Kobushi Factory – 8 members (until Rio‘s graduation)
Tsubaki Factory – 9 members

Even though I’m not overly keen on huge group numbers, I wouldn’t want any of the current girls held back or graduated. I just kind of wish Up Front had the budget (or cared enough to USE the budget if they do have it) to have more groups that were smaller. And if not that… can we at least get releases more often? Can the releases at least be changed up a bit? (Coupling tracks on every single! Albums!) Oops, I’m getting a bit off topic… (^_^”)

Anyway… I’m looking forward to H!P’s future! (I will forever be excited for Country Girls releases, though.)

Koi ni Booing Buu! – the pig one
Kimi Sae Ireba Nanimo Irenai – the boring marching dance

Genki+ – the video where I got stuck in a tree
Nanchatte Renai – the ballet-type move
What is LOVE? – the one where I was on J-MELO

H!P Vlogs: Favorite H!P Songs of 2016 – Extra Notes

December 30, 2016

I just wanted to talk about a few big things that happened in Hello! Project this year besides the music releases, namely graduations and graduation announcements.

Graduations This Year: Suzuki Kanon (Morning Musume ’16), Tamura Meimi (ANGERME), Inaba Manaka (Country Girls)

I’ve been a big fan of Zukki since she joined, so I was sad to see her go, but I felt she had been wasted in the group for a long time (I didn’t feel that bringing her out long enough to make fun of her “chubby” character counted as using her, even though she seemed to take it in stride). I was happy to see that she got a fairly prominent part in “Utakata Saturday Night!,” but the other two songs on her graduation single were sorely lacking her presence. I especially hoped that she would have gotten a more prominent line for “The Vision.” Anyway, while I was sad to see her go, she had had a fairly good run in the group, and she had already decided on something else to work toward outside of entertainment, so I wasn’t quite as broken up as I thought I would be.

As for Meimei, I wasn’t a huge fan of her when she first joined the group. She might have actually been my least favorite because she was just SO in-your-face. In the past couple of years, though, I grew to really appreciate her powerful vocals, and she seemed like a fun and funny person, so she slowly climbed up my ANGERME ranking. It’s too bad it took me so long to become a fan of her. orz

Manakan’s graduation hit me the hardest, I think. It was without ceremony, and it was due to her illness, so I felt that she had been cheated out of a very successful future. I’m not saying that I wanted her to continue performing despite her illness; I’m just sad that she didn’t have more time to show off just what an amazing performer she is. Dynamic dancing, adorable singing voice, super-cute look… one of my favorites in H!P overall in the year or so leading up to her graduation. I sincerely hope her health improves, even if she doesn’t continue performing.

Graduation Announcements: °C-ute, Tsugunaga Momoko

The graduation announcements for the rest of the H!P Kids were definitely expected… and yet I was still shocked and dismayed. °C-ute has never been my favorite H!P group, but I’ve always liked them (and Airi is one of my all-time favorite H!P members), so I was sad to hear about them disbanding. It made me feel kind of lonely, because I knew they were the last group that had been around when I first started listening to H!P (not counting MM because all of the members are different from when I started listening). After it was announced, I remember thinking, “Well, at least Momo will still be around…”

… And then her graduation was announced. orz Again, I KNEW it had to be coming soon, but I was rather upset anyway. I’ll probably talk about this more when she actually graduates, but when I first started getting into H!P music and video clips, Momo was my least favorite member in all of H!P. Fast-forward to now where she’s one of my top five favorite members and I have more respect for her than possibly any other current member of H!P. I hope June doesn’t come too quickly… TT_TT

Ayacho… you’re all that’s left… Please don’t leave yet! orz

I have some other general thoughts about the direction H!P is going… but maybe I’ll save that for another vlog/blog. ^_~

Least Played A-Side Songs – A Few Extra Notes

November 15, 2016

Here are some other songs that I don’t listen to too much. (I tried not to include songs that I don’t listen to much right now due to overplaying them at an earlier time. (^_^”))

Morning Musume。 – Ambitious! Yashinteki de Ii jan, Mikaeri Bijin, Ima Koko Kara
– “Ambitious!” is mostly due to my dislike for their outfits in the music video (which is a terrible reason, I know). It’s a great song, but I always think of those ugly yellow-and-black dresses when I hear it. =/
– The other two are due to their lack of an iTunes release (in the US, at least). I have the physical copy of the single that includes “Ima Koko Kara,” but, by the time I got it, I had already gotten used to forgetting about that song. (Again, terrible, I know.)

°C-ute – Sakura Chirari, EVERYDAY Zekkouchou!!, Kanashiki Amefuri, Ai tte Motto Zanshin, Arigatou ~Mugen no Yell~
– I don’t know what it is about “Sakura Chirari.” I know how it goes and I enjoy it well enough, I just don’t actively seek it out to listen to it. The same goes for “EVERYDAY Zekkouchou!!” (which I actually really enjoy).
– The next two on the list were actually just quick-picks from that general grouping of singles; I didn’t have a ton of interest in °C-ute from around “Aitai Aitai Aitai na” to about “The Power” (which is funny, because I realized that I actually love “Kokoro no Sakebi wo Uta ni Shite Mita” after giving it a chance.)
– “Arigatou” just sort of bored me when I first heard it. =/ I’m sure I’ll like it more eventually.

ANGERME (S/mileage) – Tachiagaaru, Gashin Shoutan, Desugita Kui wa Utarenai, Watashi
– “Tachiagaaru” is on there just because I don’t remember listening to it much when it first came out, and I haven’t listened to it too much since. I do know (and like) the melody, though.
– The other three songs suffer from being part of a single that has A-sides that I enjoy more. *shrugs*

Juice=Juice – Wonderful World, Ça va ? Ça va ?
– I like the songs, but this was just sort of a bland release for me. orz

Berryz Koubou – Fighting Pose wa Date ja Nai!, Koi no Jubaku, Golden Chinatown, Otona na no yo!
– “Fighting Pose” is cute, but it’s definitely a ‘once in a while’ kind of song for me.
– I actually really like “Koi no Jubaku,” but I forget about it a lot because it didn’t have a dance shot version. (^_^”)
– The last two songs I listed just didn’t leave a huge impression on me.

So, those are my other rarely-played A-sides. I almost feel like I should listen to all of them right now just to be fair.

That’s all for this one~!

Inaba Manaka Taking Extended Break

April 28, 2016

Inaba Manaka

It was announced today that Inaba Manaka of Country Girls will be taking an extended break from activities due to a resurgence of the chronic asthma that she’s suffered from since early childhood. She will be participating in neither Country Girls’ upcoming tour nor this summer’s H!P tour.

This came as a huge shock to me. Though I’m a big fan of all of the girls in the group, I’d be lying if I said Manakan isn’t my favorite. She’s such a dynamic dancer, and she has an adorable singing voice (besides just being adorable herself), so I’ll miss her presence in the group. That being said, I’m happy that she’s taking time off to recover her health; that’s much more important.

Get well soon, Manakan! I’ll patiently await your return~. ♥

Country Girls 3rd Single Critique

March 6, 2016

Boogie Woogie LOVE
I really love the 50s style used for the outfits and music video~! The diner setting with all of the signs on the wall is so great! MVs always hold my interest more when they have something fun in the background instead of just an empty room (… maybe I should do something about my own YouTube videos if that’s the case… XD). I even liked the “other” shots with the lollipops and cars even though they’re pretty much the type of scenes I don’t usually care for (standing/sitting somewhere and just staring off into space thoughtfully). Once again, thank you, interesting set! I’m not 100% sure how I feel about the dance. I know I really like the leg swing during the beginning of the chorus, and there are a few other moves that look pretty good, but the camera moves around so much. O_O My initial though was, “Wow, they’re kind of all over the place,” but I know there’s some rhyme and reason to it… it would just be easier to confirm if I could see it straight on without any camera changes. orz Overall, I like this video~.
Line that gets stuck in my head: Hold me tight / Dakishimete yo, Fall in love

Koi wa Magnet
This one has a bit of an 80s sound, which gives this single a nice variation. While I didn’t find the background for this one as interesting as “Boogie Woogie LOVE,” it was still pretty neat with the swirling, striped design in the huge windows. I rather liked the “other” shots for this, even though, once again, they’re just sort of staring off into space. The individual settings are pretty though~. I love Manaka and her amazing dancing, but her powerful dance break in this seemed a bit jarring after the relaxed style of the rest of the dance. =/ Overall, I really like this video, too~.
Line that gets stuck in my head: Shall we dance?

Ranrarun ~Anata ni Muchuu~
AAAAHHHH! FINALLY! This this this THIS is what I’ve wanted from H!P for so long! This reminds me of older H!P music videos… something like a combination of “I WISH” and a Tanpopo video after Kago and Rika joined with a little “Mr. Moonlight ~Ai no Big Band” thrown in for good measure. I love this so much~! It has a fun background, story scenes, cuteness (their dresses and the heart lights in their eyes~!), silliness (most of the video XD), a nice dance (from what I could see of it), and the song is unbelievably catchy~!! =D I know it’s a cover song, but that doesn’t matter in the least; it got stuck in my head right away (not even an exaggeration). This is definitely my favorite video, and it has to be my favorite track from this amazing single!
Line that gets stuck in my head: Ranrarun, anata ni muchuu na no (Let’s be honest; the entire song has gotten stuck in my head multiple times already. XD)

Seriously, Country Girls is absolutely killing it (in a good way)! I’ve loved every single one of their releases since their debut (Country Girls’ debut, not Country Musume‘s)~. I was a little skeptical about them adding Nanami and Funakki because, even though I knew both girls were talented, I thought the lineup was perfect as it was. Lucky for me (and everyone!), 2nd gen. only helps add to the group’s charm. Hooray~!! Momo is doing such an amazing job as their playing manager (Happy Birthday, Momo~!) ♥ Argh, I can’t get over how much I love this single. If you’re at all able, I would definitely recommend buying this; I know I will~!

Favorite H!P Songs of 2015 – A Few Extra Notes

December 29, 2015

As I covered in the video, my favorite songs from each group this year were:

Morning Musume。 ’15 – ENDLESS SKY (Honorable Mentions: Seishun Kozou ga Naiteiru, SUKATTO My Heart)
°C-ute – Gamusha LIFE (Honorable Mention: Iron Heart)
ANGERME – Marionette 37°C (Honorable Mention: Nanakorobi Yaoki)
Juice=Juice – GIRLS BE AMBITIOUS (Honorable Mentions: Umaretate no Baby Love,   Mirai e, Saa Hashiridase!)
Country Girls – Wakatteiru no ni Gomen ne (Honorable Mention: Itooshiku tte Gomen ne)
Kobushi Factory – Ramen Daisuki Koizumi-san no Uta (Honorable Mentions: Dosukoi! Kenkyo ni Daitan, Nen ni wa Nen (Nen’iri Ver.))

For MM’15, I like “Ima Koko Kara,” but I’ve been bouncing back and forth between thinking it’s pretty and uplifting to thinking it’s a bit on the bland side. =/ I do like it though~! “Oh my wish!” is great; I especially like the opening and ending music because it reminds me of “Ai no Gundan” which I think has to be one of my favorite A-sides from Sayu‘s time as leader. I honestly can’t remember the tune of “Ima Sugu Tobikomu Yuuki” at the moment… I haven’t listened to the song much, which is funny because I saw so many people declaring it the best song from this single. =/ I’m sure I’ll come to love it eventually. “Tsumetai Kaze to Kataomoi” is an interesting song; I feel like it would have been sung by Ai-chan, Gaki-san, and Reina during the Platinum Era. As for the video, I love the slow-down effects they used (which were also used in ANGERME’s “Nanakorobi Yaoki”). “One and Only” is a lot of fun! Good for Miki getting probably the biggest focus of the 12th gen.! Woohoo, lefties~! XD
Like I said, I didn’t really listen to most of °C-ute’s music for this year. =/ I learned to really like “The Middle Management ~Josei Chuukan Kanrishoku~” after doing the dance, and “Tsugi no Kado wo Magare” is really good, too. Their last single didn’t really grab me… and “Iron Heart” was the only album track that I felt I needed to buy on iTunes right away.
ANGERME did pretty well this year~. “Taiki Bansei/Otome no Gyakushuu” was actually the first physical copy of a S/mileage or ANGERME single that I got (it was actually a gift). I liked both of those songs, but was a bit miffed with the “Dance Promotion Vers.” of “Taiki Bansei.” (-_-*) “Mahoutsukai Sally” was cute (both in song and MV), but I wouldn’t be able to hum “Gashin Shoutan,” “Desugita Kui wa Utarenai,” ‘or “Dondengaeshi” if you asked me to (well, maybe a little of “Dondengaeshi”‘s chorus…). I can remember just a little of “Watashi,” but I’m pretty proud of Kanon for writing her own lyrics~. ^__^ “Asesaite Carnival” and “Namida wa Chou ni Kawaru” are the only other new songs of theirs that I listened to, and they’re both amazing, which mostly just bugs me because they’re not available on iTunes, and I don’t really want to pay $90 for four songs that I don’t have. O__O
For Juice=Juice, I liked “Wonderful World/Ça va ? Ça va ?,” but my reaction to it getting #1 on Oricon was something like this: “Wow! They got #1 on the charts! Good for them! … With these songs, though…?” I really do like the songs; I just feel like some of their other singles were better. As for their other album tracks, I like them all a lot, though “Erabareshi Watashitachi” is a little forgettable (which makes me feel like a jerk, because that was the only new song Tsunku had on that album orz)…
I love all of Country Girls’ songs~! My only real gripe was the very last line of “Koi Dorobou.” I never care for them using that phrase in songs, but it sounded especially awkward and tacked on in this one. =/
Oh, Kobushi Factory~… The more I think about it, the more “Ramen Daisuki Koizumi-san no Uta” and “Dosukoi! Kenkyo ni Daitan” are tied. I also really liked KoFa’s indies song “SURVIVOR” as well~! =D I’m really looking forward to more of their releases! ^__^
Tsubaki Factory‘s indies single, “Seishun Manmannaka!,” was cute, but I don’t exactly remember how it goes… (^__^”)
BERRYZ! AH, I miss them… orz “Love Together” was such a wonderful video. I was totally shocked when I left my Blu-ray running after the video was done and found out that they left messages for themselves at the very end. TT__TT
Another thing that deserves a crying face… I did literally dozens of takes trying to talk about Morning Musume。 ’15’s final single of the year. Every time I remembered the excitement of 9th gen. joining and all of their singles and performances… and the thought of Riho graduating in just a few days kept making me almost cry. orz TT__TT

All righty, that’s all from me~! What were your favorites from this year? =D
